10 Tips for Securing your PC

Here are the Ten Tips for Securing your PC.
  • Create strong passwords
  • Use good antivirus software
  • Windows users shall regularly update critical updates
  • Download online forms after verifying URL https:// or forms with lock icons
  • Use secure shell (ssh or sftp) for file transfers
  • Not open unnecessary emails
  • Regularly back up important files
  • Set a password protected screen saver to activate after 10-15 minutes
  • Shutdown thine computer at night
  • Schedule monthly scanning of hard disk

Good post. Talking about "Regularly back up important files" is one of the items I strong believe that lot of people are not doing. Everybody knows that they should backup, but only very few does it consistently

For me, backup has always been #1 priority for all the servers at work AND my home pc and laptop. I take this very seriously.

I aggree your point Ramesh, Every one need to backup their files including Database inorder to avoid any System/server crash.

excellent tips and very true about the backing up. I think everyone knows they should but it some how doesn't happen. I too am sometimes guilty of not backing up, I do it very sporadically.
I'm trying to get better!!
